Marriage License

by Andrea Bui - Posted Under: Wedding

I reserved an appointment for Richard and I to pick-up our marriage license from San Francisco City Hall.

Calfornia State Law requires a picture id such as Drivers License or other valid identification. Some counties recommend bringing certified copies of your birth certificates (which I don’t have since I had to send mine in for my US Passport). You need to know your parents names, mothers’ maiden name and places of their birth. The license is valid for 90 days before you must have it officiated, i.e. ceremony performed. After our ceremony in Stanislaus County, October 6, we have to contact the San Francisco County Recorder’s Office to get a certified copy of our marriage license and certificate.

There are a few differences between San Mateo and San Francisco County; San Mateo County you don’t need an appointment to get a marriage license, you just walk in, show IDs and pay the fees; San Francisco County, you have to reserve an appointment and you can book up to 3 months in advance and you pay your fee at the time you reserve. As for the fees, San Mateo County charges $78 opposed to San Franciso’s $91. I was debating about getting our license with San Mateo County since this is the County I live in, but the County courthouse is in Redwood City. The San Francisco location seems to be more convenient for both of us.

Four Months to Go

by Richard Bui - Posted Under: Wedding

Time just seems to fly by. It was only a month ago that it was just 5 months to go and a month before that was 6 months. We’re now in the final stages of planning and preparation. The stress levels are high and so is the anticipation. There isn’t *too* much left to do, but worry about things we can’t control and wait nervously.

So what do we still need to do? We let’s see:

  • Andrea still needs a tiara and shoes
  • Our fathers, Chris (Best Man), and I still need our tuxedo shoes
  • We all still need to get fitted (won’t be until 2 weeks before the date)
  • We need to order our wedding bands
  • Andrea needs to do a hair and makeup dry run
  • Invitations need to be addressed and sent out
  • We need to finalize our song list for the DJ

So yea, a few more things to take care of.

Picked up Invitations yesterday.

by Andrea Bui - Posted Under: Wedding

We finally have the invitations!! They are very nice, in fact, they are more than what we expected. Now we have assemble them and get ready for mailing. I gave my parents their invitation yesterday (they never saw the proof or anything else of what it looks like) and my dad was impressed and said it’s very nice. Richard did a great job on the design and we are happy with the final product.

Getting ready for Engagement Picture

by Andrea Bui - Posted Under: Wedding

Richard and I are going to take our engagement picture in July when, hopefully, the weather will be nice.

We are working hard in getting in shape to prepare. We go to the gym at 5 a.m. on a few weekdays and do weights and cardio, which is about an hour and half workout. On the weekends, of course, we spend longer in the gym. I want to get toned and have some muscle definition as well as lose a few pounds.

5 months to go!!

by Andrea Bui - Posted Under: Wedding

It feels like time is flying by quickly. Only 5 months left until the Big Day! Some of the things we’ve completed lately are:

  • Applied for my passport (should get in June)
  • Invitations are done.
  • Favors are done.
  • We ordered our champagne toasting flutes, cake cutting set, and guest book.

We interviewed a few DJs, but have not booked yet. I have to look for my tiara and bridal shoes. Oh, and then there’s the wedding cake.

Things are moving along though, we have most all the major tasks completed.
