A Day Off Work
Andrea and I took a day off work on Monday to just relax and take a mini day trip. We chose to have a picnic at Santa Cruz Beach Boardwalk. The weather was nice, ~70’s, not too windy or cold. We packed sandwiches (made with Orowheat double fiber bread of course), some Keebler Multi-Grain Club crackers, and some beef jerky; what could be better?
We took Highway 280 to Highway 17 to the Boardwalk, hardly any traffic given it was a normal working Monday. The park was running in limited operation: only one parking lot open, a few rides open (Merry-go-round, Double Shot, bumper cars, and a few other kiddy stands), and the arcade/in-door putt putt golf. We were hoping to get a chance to try a Fried Twinkie, unfortunately that stand is only open on the weekends…waahh. We settled for a fried cheesecake instead, which was OK, we both think the Fried Twinkie would have been much better. The fried cheesecake is a rasberry cheesecake wrapped in a tortilla, then fried and sprinkled with cinnamon and sugar.
We then drove home on Highway 1 along the Coast, which is always a nice scenic route. It was definitely a good day.
